Positionierungskonstruktionen in studentischen Vorträgen. Eine korpuslinguistische Analyse
Positioning constructions in students’ presentations. A corpus linguistic analysis

While there are already empirical studies on how the acquisition of positioning constructions in argumentative texts develops from primary school to university, there are no equivalent studies for spoken genres. Initial studies indicate that explicit positioning constructions are much more frequent in more formal genres such as research presentations than in academic texts, and that they are used at key argumentative points. Against this background, the article uses the GeWiss corpus to analyse German-language presentations by students with German as L1 and German as L2. The focus lies on the question of whether positioning constructions occur as frequently in student presentations as in expert lectures, and also which positioning constructions are used and which factors (L1 vs. L2, location / academic environment) are likely to be responsible for this.
